Medellin, Columbia

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Medellin.

1.  Pictured above is a dovecote, which is a home for doves / pigeons.   The dove can be a symbol for both peace and the Holy Spirit. Pray that a Christian walking past the above dovecote will also walk in the Spirit, being transformed into the image of the Son for the glory of the Father.

2.  Near the above picture is a long row of large rainbow colored umbrellas that provide shade for street vendors. Pray that one of those vendors will learn the story of the first rainbow, and personally enter the ark of salvation – Jesus.

3.  Due to its great weather, Medellin boasts the nickname “City of Eternal Spring.” Pray that one of its residents will also obtain residency in the city of New Jerusalem, which has an even better feature: no need of the sun, because God is its light.

Willemstad, Curacao

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Willemstad.

  1. Located in Willemstad, Mikve Israel-Emanuel Synagogue opened in 1674, and is the oldest surviving synagogue in the Americas. This photo is the cabinet where the Scripture is kept. Directly behind where the photographer stood in this view is a smaller platform where the person explaining the Scripture would be. Wooden pews line both sides of the synagogue, where the men and women would be seated separately. The layout of everything is the same as it was when Christ taught in a synagogue in Luke 4. An interesting feature about the above picture is that the floor is sand. The name of this synagogue includes the name Emanuel…God with us. Pray that the hearts of many who come there will be opened to Emanuel’s message.
  2. Pray for visitors to the Curacao Ostrich Farm near Willemstad to see something there that points them to the Lord.
  3. According to britannica.com, the two white stars on Curacao’s flag symbolize peace and happiness. Pray for someone in Willemstad to find true peace and happiness in Jesus today.

3. One of the local delicacies is grilled whole guinea pig. Pray that a cook preparing that meal today would meet a believer who models Christ in word and deed.

Guatemala City, Guatemala

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Guatemala City.

1. The building next to the red car lies in disrepair, with hints of what used to be. Unfortunately, physical devastation is just one type of calamity a home can endure. As of 2018, Guatemala had the lowest divorce rate of any nation worldwide (statista.com). Pray for Christian families in Guatemala City to build their homes on the Word of God, that they may avoid spiritual devastation.

2. After a 1976 earthquake, Guatemalans became very receptive to the gospel. Today, the country’s average of Protestant adherents is 30%, as compared with the 6% average that other Central American nations have. Pray for the Lord to bless continuing evangelism and discipleship efforts.

3. With the metro area population well over 3 million people, Guatemala City is the largest city in Central America. However, when our Shepherd looks down at the city, He sees more than a mass of people – He looks into individual souls that need Him. Pray for someone your age to respond in faith today to the Spirit’s work in his / her heart.

Psalm 113:3

Thanks to my son for telling me facts about Guatemala that he learned in his high school geography class.
