Brooklyn Bridge Promenade, NYC

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of New York City.

The Brooklyn Bridge Promenade extends the entire length of the Brooklyn Bridge. The iron railings of the promenade were cast by the same foundry that had previously made the iron dome for the US Capitol building in Washington, DC. It is estimated that 32,000 pedestrians cross the bridge daily. Walking briskly, it can be crossed in about 30 minutes.

  1. Pray for today’s 27,341st and 27,342nd pedestrians on the Brooklyn Bridge Promenade, that they will realize their significance to Almighty God, hear His plan of redemption, and believe on Jesus.
  2. Pray for a Bible preaching church in Brooklyn to plan an outreach to the pedestrians on the Brooklyn Bridge Promenade, and for it to be successful spiritually.
  3. On the ground to the right of our map marker is a carousel. Pray for the next family enjoying that attraction to receive and grow in Christ, that their family may mirror His blueprint.

  1. Pray for the owner of this Vespa scooter to come to the place in his spiritual life where he will not just drive a golden colored vehicle, but one day walk on streets of gold.
  2. The scooter is parked right in front of Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts, a contemporary art shop. Pray for Kathleen to recognize the beauty of the artwork of the Ancient of Days, and yield to Him in all areas.
  3. All along the sidewalk on Court Street are places to park / secure bicycles. Pray for a Christian cyclist who has never yet been baptized to take that step of obedience.

  2. Pray for anyone with a broken arm in Brooklyn to receive a gospel witness this week.
  3. Pray for a Christian who will cross the overpass above to keep daily quiet time with God a life priority.

  1. In contrast to the the word on the wall yesterday, notice the white capital letters on the building in the center of today’s picture: LEAVE A MARK. Pray for Christians in Brooklyn who are trying wholeheartedly to leave a mark for the kingdom of God in their city, but are challenged by great obstacles, that the Lord will grant the victory of Christ today in situations they face.
  2. Pray for a city bus driver on Interstate 278  to receive a gospel tract from a Christian passenger, and read and believe the truth.
  3. Pray for someone working in the building with all the windows who feels lonely on this Valentine’s Day to meet the God Whose love surpasses any human love.

  1. To the immediate right of our map marker is a building covered with graffiti, the most notable word being “distort.” Sadly, the vast majority of people in the world today have a distorted view of God and truth. Pray for the people who put “distort” on this wall to be rescued from all distortions of the truth, that they may come to know God as He really is.
  2. Pray for a Christian shopper at the nearby Costco to be called to foreign missionary service, and be faithful to obey.
  3. We are currently in the Sunset Park area of Brooklyn. TGP’s theme verse is Psalm 113:3, which states, “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’s name is to be praised.” Pray that tonight at sunset, many people in Sunset Park will genuinely praise the name of our wonderful Lord.

  1. Pray for the salvation of the person responsible to change out the billboards on the above billboard sign.
  2. Below the billboard sign is the Awning Warehouse. An awning can be a shelter from both rainfall and the sun’s heat. Pray for a Christian passing by the Awning Warehouse to continually take shelter under the shadow of the Most High.
  3. Not far from our map marker is Platinum Home Health Care. Pray for an older believer receiving home health care to be reminded today of the Lord’s presence and care.

  1. The Verrazano – Narrows Bridge connects Staten Island to the rest of New York City. Pray for a current driver on the bridge to trust Christ as the only way to the Father.
  2. Fort Wadsworth once served as a strategic defense point for New York City. The area was first fortified by the British while they were in control of New York City during the Revolutionary War. After the war, Americans made it an official fort and a key defense to protecting the city. It wasn’t until 1994, over 200 years later, that the US Navy turned the land over to the US National Park service. Today there are biking /walking trails and incredible views of the harbor available for all to enjoy. Pray for a Christian visiting the fort to establish and maintain effective, Biblical defenses against sin.
  3. Pray for the salvation of Vito John Fossello, Jr., the Staten Island Borough President.

Thank you from New York City

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of New York City.

In 2024, metro NYC is recorded as having a population of 19.03+ million people (NYC proper reports 8.09+ million residents). The first US census was taken in 1790, and in that and every subsequent census, NYC has ranked first as our most populous city. There are 200 languages spoken there, and people from the Dominican Republic and China make up the two largest foreign-born segments of the population.

There are five boroughs (governmental districts) that comprise the city. Our prayer walk has taken us through Manhattan and Staten Island so far, and we will be walking through the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn. We have walked 27 miles, which is 38% of our 71.02 total virtual prayer walk distance.

The photo above was taken above Queens, NYC last night. The lights stretched expansively in a 360° circle, and are even reflected on the plane’s wing.

In light of the opportunity to be in NYC for a couple of hours yesterday, it is a fitting time to thank each of you for your participation in praying for people there. Your involvement in our virtual prayer walk is an investment in eternity. When both a lost person is saved and a Christian grows in his walk with the Lord, it is most often the result of several believers joining with God in His work to reach that individual. We trust that the Lord will use our prayers to the same end for His glory.

So, thank you for praying! Though your feet may never physically walk the streets of New York City, the spiritual shoe leather of your prayers has the potential to leave imprints that will last forever in the souls of people for whom Jesus died. For today’s prayer request, please ask the Lord to save the individuals who received gospel tracts at the airport last night.

Let’s keep walking and praying!
