Mariupol, Ukraine

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Mariupol.

  1. On March 1st, the port city Mariupol was featured on TGP. As the city continues to valiantly hold out against Russian attacks (50-100 airstrikes a day), let us pray again for the Lord’s protection and provision for daily needs for city residents.
  2. Pray for the omnipotent God to make ways for food, water, heat, medicine, and hygiene products to reach Mariupol’s remaining 100,000 residents.
  3. Pray for Christians among those residents to have Divine enablement to reach out to others with the light and hope of Christ.

Lutsk, Bucha, and Bashtanka, Ukraine

Pray for the Lord to help the Ukraine.

  1. On this Lord’s Day, pray for Christians in Lutsk (in western Ukraine) to have ideas for how to reach their countrymen with the good news of Jesus Christ. Pray for those ideas to lead to an eternal harvest of souls.
  2. The above picture is from Bucha, a town that is a 35 minute drive from Kyiv. Pray for Christians in Bucha to experience the Lord’s provision for daily food and clothing, and to take comfort in the fact that their Father knows they need these things (Matthew 6:32b).

Zaporizhzhia, Smila, and Yahotyn, Ukraine

Pray for the Lord to help the Ukraine.

  1. Pray for the salvation of one of the Russian soldiers now guarding the captured nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia.
  2. The above picture from Smila is a weeping willow tree. Doubtless, many of Smila’s residents would echo the sentiments of David in Psalm 56. Pray for them to know that the Lord sees their tears (v. 8), and that they can trust Him when under attack (v. 1-3).
  3. Pray for babies born in Yahotyn over the last ten days to have a chance to grow up in a safe / loving environment, and hear / accept the gospel at an early age.

Lviv, Rokytne, and Chernihiv, Ukraine

Pray for the Lord to help the Ukraine.

  1. Civilians in Lviv have been cutting up and welding old railroad ties to make roadblocks to keep Russian tanks out of their city. Pray for the Lord to bless their efforts, and touch their souls with His hope.
  2. Pray for a soldier in Ukraine’s army who is from Rokytne to know the Rock of Ages that no missile or army can ever destroy.
  3. The above photo is from a mall in Chernihiv, depicting days which must seem like a lifetime ago to former shoppers. Pray that each person who bought a pair of shoes from this rack would know / take refuge in the presence of God wherever he / she is today.

Odessa, Mykolaiv, and Dnipro, Ukraine

Pray for the Lord to help the Ukraine.

  1. Yesterday, 100 children, many of them orphans, were safely taken from Odessa to Moldova. This rescue was made possible by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. The plan is for them to be cared for by a rabbi in Berlin until they are able to be reunited with family members. The youngest child is 37 days old. (https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/article-699137). Pray for the Lord to comfort both children and families as they are separated, and for everyone involved to know that Jesus loves them.
  2. The above picture is from the Mykolaiv Observatory, founded 200 years ago. Pray for the last group of people who sat in these chairs to think about the God Who made the vastness of the heavens, and come to Him in faith.
  3. Pray for the women of Dnipro who have come together to help their city in organized, practical ways. Pray for them to be able to have the rest of Psalm 4:8 whenever sleep is an option. Pray for them to know the God Who can help them.

Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, and Kherson, Ukraine

Pray for the Lord to help the Ukraine.

  1. The above picture is a church in Cherkasy. The Ukraine has been nicknamed “the Bible belt of the former USSR.” There are 548 Awana clubs across the nation, with 23,507 children enrolled (awana.org). Pray for these children and their families to know God’s protection and provision during this time of national crisis.
  2. Pray for families whose homes were destroyed in Zhytomyr today. Pray that God will give them strength and comfort in the fact that He offers an eternal Home that can never be attacked.
  3. Pray for the mayor and residents of the port city Kherson as they are fighting desperately to keep control of their city.

Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Mariupol, Ukraine

Pray for the Lord to help the Ukraine.

Note: For the next seven days, each TGP daily post will feature three Ukrainian cities/requests.

  1. The above picture is part of Freedom Square in Kharkiv, a location we specifically prayed for January 31st. Tragically, it was hit by a Russian missile yesterday, killing several civilians. Pray for Kharkiv’s search and rescue workers to know the sustaining strength of God.
  2. As Kyiv braces for attacks from Russia’s 40 mile long convoy, pray for President Zelenskyy. He has exhibited indomitable courage throughout the crisis. Pray that if he and his family don’t know Jesus, they will trust Him today.
  3. Mariupol, a city on the Azov Sea, has been under constant shelling, and is now without electricity. Pray for the Lord to be glorified even in the dark, and to protect His children.

Przemysl, Poland

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Przemysl.

  1. Przemysl has set up nine stations to care for tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees. Most of these are women and children (men aged 18-60 are required to stay in the Ukraine to help defend their country). Upon arrival, refugees are given meals and medical attention. Pray for Christians to be among Poland’s relief workers, and that they may have opportunities to share the compassion of Christ with those hurting so deeply.
  2. Built around the eighth century, Przemysl is one of Poland’s oldest cities (wikipedia). Pray for the oldest person living in Przemysl to personally know the Ancient of Days, and spend eternity with Him.
  3. The Bieszczady Mountains are within a two hour drive from Przemysl. Pray for the next family going there for an enjoyable day trip to also discover the truths of Psalm 121.

The Ukraine Revisited

This photo is a partial view of Kharkiv’s skyline, a city for which we prayed January 31. Other Ukrainian cities featured on TGP include Kyiv (2-20-22), Kadiivka (2-17-22), and Cherkasy (8-15-21). In light of the current invasion, let us once again remember the Ukraine in prayer.

  1. Pray for Jesus to comfort families who have lost loved ones today as only He can.
  2. Pray for the Lord to grant wisdom to Ukraine’s leaders for how to best defend their country.
  3. Pray for citizens with understandably high anxiety to turn to God as their “refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
