Mark 16:15

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.“

It’s been on the books for several months, and today is the day for the big reveal: the Lord willing, over the next two and a half years, every TGP team member will be able to go on a virtual prayer walk in each of the remaining five permanently inhabited continents! Last winter we did our first virtual prayer walk together in New York City. That prayer walk was the springboard for the idea of doing one through cities in Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and South America. We will plan to do one virtual prayer walk each semester for this and the next four semesters. Although it may not be possible for our feet to ever physically walk on each of those continents, our prayers have the potential to make a difference.

So, let’s go! Let’s lace up our virtual tennis shoes, pack our backpacks, and head over to Tokyo, Japan! Our route is a 45-mile walk through the city. My goal is to walk around a mile each day Monday through Friday, using the Conqueror Virtual Challenges app to track progress, and take screenshots of the street view at the end of each day’s walk. The next morning I’ll post that picture and three related prayer requests.

The following map shows our route in its entirety. The cross marker shows our location, and the blue line the path we will follow:

1. Pray for the Lord to guide our prayers for the people of Tokyo over the next 9+ weeks, and use them to make a difference for His eternal kingdom.

2. Pray that at some point during this prayer walk, you will meet a person of Japanese ethnicity, and be able to witness to him / her, even if it’s only the three words “Jesus loves you!”

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Bergama.

1. Jesus sent a message to the church in Bergama (Pergamos) in Revelation 2:12-17. Pray that Christians living there now will be pure in doctrine and hold fast to His name.
2. The above ruins are from the Acropolis. Pray that the truth of I John 2:17 will become real to a historian visiting the once imposing site.
3. Five* years ago, a factory for the production of wind turbine blades opened in Bergama. Scripture compares the Holy Spirit to wind, and the Greek word “pneuma” is translated “spirit, breath, wind.” Pray for a factory worker to feel the Wind of God blowing across his life, and follow Him in faith.

Revelation 1:17-18

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Alasehir.

1. Jesus sent a message to the church in Alasehir (Philadelphia) in Revelation 3:7-13. Pray for a Christian today in Alasehir to see an open door that God has set before him, and be encouraged to walk through it.
2. Pray for 8 people passing the 8-pointed star in the middle of the pictured highway interchange, that whatever the status of their relationship with God, they will grow in faith today.
3. Pray for perseverance to continue to be a hallmark of the believers in Alasehir.

2 Timothy 2:1-7

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Lanzhou.

1. Stretching out at 3,395 miles, the Yellow River (Huanghe River) is the sixth longest river system in the world (google). Although there are many bridges that span the Yellow River, such as the one above, there is only one bridge that can cross the great divide between God and man. Pray for a driver using the above bridge today to also avail himself of the John 14:6 bridge.

2. Pray for a member of the Lanzhou People’s Congress to hear and accept the plan of salvation.

3. Pray for increased distribution of God’s Word among Lanzhou’s nearly four million residents.

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Kaohsiung City.

1. The time in Taiwan is twelve hours ahead of the US eastern standard time zone. Pray for people who sat at this spot earlier today to hear about and accept their personal invitations to the Father’s table.
2. Pray for a taxi driver in Kaohsiung City to have a conversation with a Christian passenger this week that will point him to Jesus.
3. Pray for a night club manager to meet the One Who gives true purpose and peace.

Psalm 118:21-26

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Mitsuke.

1. Notice the ladder on the roof of the house in the foreground. Pray that the homeowner will come to know the only Ladder that reaches from earth to heaven – Jesus Himself (Gen. 28:12, John 1:51).

2. Mitsuke is a city with about 40,000 residents. The mayor is Tokio Kusumi. Pray for a member of his family become a Christian before the end of the year.

3. Japan has a very low percentage of Christians. Pray for that to change. Pray also for believers in Japan today, and that the lost individuals for whom they are burdened would go ahead and make the decision to believe the gospel.

Isaiah 40:29-31

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Selcuk.

1. Jesus sent a message to the church at Ephesus in Revelation 2:1-7. Ruins of ancient Ephesus are well-preserved near Selcuk. Pray that Christians in Selcuk today will always ardently love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
2. The amphitheater at Ephesus (aerial view shown above) seated around 25,000 people. It was the largest in the ancient world (wikipedia). Pray for someone in Selcuk today who has an ancestor that attended an event there to trust Christ as his / her Savior.
3. Pray for a policeman in Selcuk to know the peace of God in his life.

Revelation 1:17-18

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Damascus.

1. Damascus is perhaps the oldest continually inhabited city in the world. Pray for the people that have known Jesus longest in Damascus, for God to remind them how good it is to have a Savior.
2. The above memorial statue is of Yusuf al-Azma, who died in battle at the age of thirty-six while defending his fellow Syrians against the French. Pray for all the thirty-six year olds of the city to follow the Captain Who died to defend them from the ravages of sin.
3. Pray for the Lord to raise up a people who know Him, are strong, and do exploits. (Daniel 11:32 will be fulfilled in the tribulation, but we can pray that God raises up this kind of people for this generation.)

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Rawe.

1. Block houses similar to this one are common all over the world. Notice the bamboo in the windows. Pray for the family living here to build their lives on The Rock, that they may successfully withstand the storms of life.

2. Sdi Dhereisa is a school in Rawe. Pray for both a teacher and a student there to be born again.

3. Pray for any Christians in Rawe to grow in their knowledge of the Lord, that they may abide in Him and accurately reflect His image.

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Poharadevi.

1. This picture shows mothers taking their children to the Poharadevi Temple. Pray for them to hear about Jesus, that they may instead introduce their children to the One True God.

2. Pray for the Lord to protect all His children in India who are seeking to reach others with His good news.

3. Pray that someone from Poharadevi will come into contact with a copy of the Bible today, be curious enough to read it, and convicted enough to believe it.
