Niamey, Niger

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Niamey.

1. The Great Mosque of Niamey (pictured above) can accommodate 15,000 worshippers (https://www.kidventuresai.com/Location/niamey_niger/Activity/visit-the-grand-mosque-of-niamey). It has a minaret with 171 steps. Wikipedia describes a minaret as “a type of tower typically built into or adjacent to mosques. Minarets are generally used to project the Islam call to prayer, but they also serve as landmarks and symbols of Islam’s presence.” (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minaret). Pray that 171 people who frequently come to worship here will truly understand and believe that “there is one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.” (1 Tim. 2:5)

2. Niamey is the capital city of Niger. Pray for governmental leaders to make policy decisions and laws that facilitate freedom of religion.

3. Pray for a dozen homeless people in Niamey to find both a physical home now, and a guaranteed promise of future residency in the city with foundations, whose builder and maker is God (Heb. 11:10).

Happy Resurrection Sunday!

He is not here, for He is risen, as He said…” (Matt. 28:6)

For the Christian, there is nothing quite like the triumphant joy of Easter morning. Jesus wins! Sin and death are defeated forever; the victory is eternally the Son’s. Hallelujah!

Below are the lyrics for my favorite Easter hymn, written by Charles Wesley. For today, let’s have all our TGP time focus on the adoration of our great Savior. Also below is a link to a full orchestra and church singing “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today.” Please open the link, turn up the volume loud enough that the music fills your room, and read or sing the words along with them.

https://youtu.be/nrI2sBiIDxE?si=zHaTRbLoLbErGoIA

1 Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say: Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heav’ns, and earth, reply: Alleluia!

2 Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Dying once He all doth save, Alleluia!
Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

3 Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids Him rise, Alleluia!
Christ hath opened Paradise, Alleluia!

4 Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Lake Victoria: Africa

Lake Victoria is:

1. Africa’s largest lake

2. Earth’s largest tropical lake

3. Earth’s second largest freshwater lake by surface area

Forty million people (and growing quickly every year) live in the drainage basin of Lake Victoria, from the countries of Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda. The lake is the source of the Nile River. David Livingston was one of several British explorers in the 1800’s who worked to confirm or deny this fact when it was still in question.

1.   This picture is from a park along the coastline of Mwanza, a Tanzanian town famous for its granite rock. Pray for the next person who steps on the pictured rocks to find a sure footing for life by placing faith in Christ alone.

2.   Just as the Nile’s source was a topic of debate and much exploration, the source of true happiness and significant meaning in life is also. Pray for a Ugandan worker at one of Lake Victoria’s many resorts to personally find the answer to this vital quest.

3.  Harvesting 2,000,000,000 pounds of fish annually, the lake provides the world’s biggest freshwater fish supply. * Pray for Christians among the 200,000 workers in that industry to walk in the Spirit today.

Revelation 22:1,17

Sunday Series: African Deacons

Psalm 122:1

I was glad when they said unto me,

Let us go into the house of the LORD.”

1. The continent of Africa contains 54 nations, 1,000 official languages, and 15% of the world’s population (https://moafrikatours.com/how-many-countries-are-in-africa). Pray for today’s African deacons to be “of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom,” as were the first deacons, described in Acts 6:3.

2.   According to https://www.opendoorsus.org/en-US/persecution/countries/, 19 of those 54 countries have very high or extreme levels of religious persecution. Pray for deacons in those countries to have the hand of God on their lives as they serve His church.

3.   Pray for African deacons to have opportunities to further grow in their understanding of God’s word, and be successful in the discipleship of their children.

Thank you for praying!

Bir Anzerane, Western Sahara

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Bir Anzerane.

1. Western Sahara is a territory on Africa’s Atlantic coast whose occupation and control is disputed by Morocco and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. The population is close to 600,000, which is a density of about 6 people per square mile. Nowhere in Western Sahara gets more than 2 inches of rain a year. Pray for people whose souls are as parched as the dry ground to have an opportunity to receive the Living Water, that their spiritual thirst may be quenched.

2. Pray for the gospel to transform the lives of the people at the pictured complex.

3. Pray that if a Christian has been seeking to do a work for God in Western Sahara, that the Father would open doors to make that a reality.
