Rio Verde, Paraguay

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Rio Verde.

1. Pray for a Christian to be making clear, steady tracks through life, that his life will continue to point others to the Lord long after his journey here is over.

2. Pray for someone in Rio Verde who enjoys the same hobbies as you do to know and love Jesus.

3. Pray for the next child who climbs one of the trees in this picture to talk to the same God Who talked to Zacchaeus while he was in a tree.

Psalm 67:3

Gimcheon, South Korea

Special Note: April 20 is the day that the monthly salvation prayer list for specific lost individuals will be emailed. If you would like to receive this list of names to pray for, or add to it, please email targetedglobalprayer@gmail.com. if you currently receive the list and have any updates or additions, please do the same by April 19.

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Gimcheon.

1. Pray for a driver who traverses the red patch of pavement today to also get on the “narrow road that leads to life” spiritually.

2. Pray for one of Gimcheon’s residents who does not have hope for the year ahead, and even life itself – that the gospel of Jesus Christ will forever change his condition.

3. Located in almost South Korea’s exact geographical center, Gimcheon is on the main transportation route leading from Seoul to Busan. The city is famous for Jikjisa Temple, built in 418. Pray for a family that has been connected to Korean Buddhism for centuries to know the only Way, Truth, and Life, with many family members coming to the Father by Him.

Continuing Prayer for Missionary Josh Sullivan

Today’s TGP post is dedicated to prayers for Josh and Meagan Sullivan and family. Since his kidnapping during a church service last week, Josh’s whereabouts have been unknown, and a ransom has been demanded.

1. Pray for Josh’s soon and safe return.

2. Pray for peace and strength for Josh and all the Christians involved, from his wife / children / extended family to other missionaries to members of his church who witnessed the event.

3.  Pray for the salvation of the kidnappers.

The Sullivans serve as missionaries in South Africa. Here is a link to their April prayer letter, written not long before he was kidnapped:

https://sullivansinsouthafrica.weebly.com/blog/april-prayer-letter3673351?fbclid=IwY2xjawJp0ddleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHkEMyQriHmY5acnUyz8LH1AyETdmPEUiz1ocHuoGGzbWeNMIKytvA9ogFTbH_aem_MaQhixyWOna4TGalUJHJUw

On his Facebook page tagline, Josh Sullivan has Philippians 1:21: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

His father-in-law asks that Christians do the same thing that Christians in the first century did when Peter was captured: “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.” (Acts 12:5)

Sunday Songs Series: “Trees of the Field”

Isaiah 55:12

For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Although the featured song is not specifically about Palm Sunday, it was chosen for two reasons: the joyful Jewish melody and the fact that it is a prophetic song that will one day be fulfilled by the Son of David.

Listen to “Trees of the Field” here (first time in English, second time in French):

https://youtu.be/miyEa5ZhvSA?si=p-h-ymMHQNZPHN0X

Related directly to Palm Sunday, consider the last two lines from “This Day:”*

As Your eyes meet mine amongst the crowd of followers, dear Son,

May all I am be all for Thee, my Lord, the Holy One.

  1. Pray for these lines to be true of many people when Jesus walks among His churches today.
  2. Pray that Christians worldwide will be encouraged by joy today at the promise of the Lord’s return and the subsequent setup of His millennial Kingdom, when all of the promises of restoration – extending to even nature itself – will be fulfilled.
  3. Pray for someone visiting a church in each of the 50 states to make a personal decision to believe the gospel today.

NYC Prayer Walk Conclusion

Photo from the Conqueror Virtual Challenges app: completion of our route

On February 5, I had the opportunity to be in New York City for a couple hours during a layover. It was really neat to be on location in the city during the time of our virtual prayer walk. I thought of you all, and wished you all could have been there that night as well. I was able to order NYC postcards that evening, and have been saving them to mail out to everyone involved on the prayer walk upon completion of our journey. In addition to being a celebratory thank you for praying, the postcards could also serve as a reminder to continue to pray for New York City.

All that said, I have a few addresses already, but if you would like to get a physical postcard in the mail, please email your name and address to me at targetedglobalprayer@gmail.com. (This is a private email, and no information will be shared with anyone else.)

Once again, thank you for praying for New York City! May the Lord use our prayers to further His kingdom in that place. Psalm 113:3.

Central Park 5: Prayer Walk Completion, NYC

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of New York City.

Today’s post marks the completion of our virtual prayer walk in New York City! Thank you to each TGP team member who has prayed along the way! Tomorrow’s post will contain summary and celebratory information / stats, so be sure to check your email then.

  1. The view above is interesting because it combines the serenity of a park with the skyline of a metropolis. Pray for a person who will see this view in person today, that he will be convinced of the need to have a Biblical worldview for all of life.
  2. Pray for a person who frequently visits Central Park looking for peace and respite from life’s stresses, that she will discover the only true source of peace – Jesus Himself.
  3. Pray for a park custodian to have a gospel focused conversation with a Christian, and respond in faith.

Urgent Special Request: Missionary Kidnapping

Earlier today during a church service in South Africa, missionary Josh Sullivan was kidnapped at gunpoint. Police have recovered the car used by the kidnappers, and they are pursuing a suspect, but Josh is still missing. Mrs. Sullivan and the children are safe with another missionary family. Please pray for the Lord to bring Josh home safely, and to give all of the Sullivans a continued sense of His very real presence with them. Thank you.

Central Park 4: Playmates Arch, NYC

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of New York City.

Photo from the Conqueror Virtual Challenges app

Playmates Arch is in the Children’s District of Central Park. It allows pedestrians to continue walking along the footpath uninterrupted by traffic above. To the west of the arch is the carousel, playground, and ballfield. To the east is both the Chess & Checkers House and the dairy.

  1. Jesus said that unless a person becomes like a little child, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Pray for a caregiver walking with children under Playmates Arch today to have the humble faith of a child, and thus receive eternal life.
  2. Pray for two of this month’s game players at the outdoor Chess & Checkers House to meet Jesus.
  3. Pray for a child who has previously ridden on the carousel who has been through traumatic life events to find salvation, comfort, and healing in the arms of Jesus, Who called the little children to His side.

Central Park 3: The Obelisk, NYC

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of New York City.

Photo from Google Earth

Located behind the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Obelisk is known as Cleopatra’s Needle, and is one of two needles that flanked the Egyptian temple in Heliopolis (referred to Biblically as On), the center for Egyptian sun worship. What is really interesting is that Moses probably saw The Obelisk on a regular basis, because historians think he received his Egyptian education in Heliopolis, and The Obelisk was there before he was born. Thus, although many of the hieroglyphics have been weathered down over the course of time, we are potentially looking at a picture of something that Moses saw as a teenager / young man.

  1. Hebrews 11:24-26 says that when Moses was come of age, he valued the reproach of Christ as greater riches than all of Egypt’s treasures. Today only scattered fragments of Heliopolis’ grandeur can be found in the desert sands around Cairo. Moses made the right choice. Pray for Christian teenagers touring the Metropolitan Museum of Art this spring to make that same right choice.
  2. Jesus said that if someone would not believe Moses’ writings, they would not believe Him. As an application of that statement, pray for a person struggling with what Moses wrote in Genesis 1-11 to accept its veracity by faith, thus paving the way to accept the Redeemer’s New Testament message of salvation.
  3. Pray for Christian leaders in New York City to continue growing in their personal knowledge of and walk with God, just as Moses’ maturity and understanding of God continued to grow throughout his life.

  1. In 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, Paul compares the Christian life to a race. Pray that Christians passing through Central Park this week will be faithful to run for God all the days of their lives, looking to Jesus for inspiration (Heb. 12:1-3).
  2. Pray for Christians passing through Central Park this week to also consistently exhibit brotherly love toward fellow believers.
  3. Pick one individual from the runners above, and pray for that person’s salvation.
