  1. No matter how many buildings crowd New York City, the sky is always bigger. One day Jesus Christ will rapture His church to meet Him in the clouds. Pray for each of the four pictured apartment buildings to have a steady stream of Christian residents who will be a light for God until He comes.
  2. There were 38,000 adherents to Islam in the Bronx in 2010. By 2020, that number had nearly tripled to 112,000. Another way to grasp this is that one out of every twelve people is Muslim. Rough estimates of data regarding the number of born again Christians rank them at a lower percentage of the Bronx’s population. Pray for God’s people to make a difference in their community.
  3. Pray for an X-ray technician at the BronxCare Hospital to meet the God Who sees inside every individual, and accept His offer of salvation.

  1. Since last time, we have crossed into the Bronx, our last borough of New York City. Pray for the Lord to use our prayers during the next couple of weeks to make an eternal difference in the lives of people living/working in this borough.
  2. The shoe store above is Skechers, whose slogan is “Good for your feet. Good for the world.”  Scripture states that beautiful are the feet of those who bring the gospel, and the gospel is truly the best thing for the world. Pray for God to call many young men living in the Bronx to be preachers of His Word, and for them to be faithful to His call.
  3. Over half of the Bronx’s population is Hispanic. Pray for a Hispanic family to trust Christ alone for salvation, that they may claim the promises contained in yesterday’s featured song, “Del Amor Divino.”

Sunday Songs Series: “Del Amor Divino”

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Because worship is a vital component of prayer, TGP started the Sunday Songs Series last week. God’s children have always brought adoration to Him through music, and this will continue throughout eternity. Since the focus of TGP’s prayers is for Jesus to be known through Biblical worldwide evangelization and discipleship, it is appropriate that some of our featured songs be from other languages. Such is the case today with the Spanish hymn “Del Amor Divino” (“Of Divine Love”).

I first heard “Del Amor Divino” in 2004 in Lima, Peru. It immediately became my favorite Spanish song, not only because of the song’s melody, but also because of the depth of truth in the lyrics, which are taken from the last several verses of Romans 8. The secure foundation of God’s love for a believer cannot be over emphasized. It provides the confidence to face anything that happens in life and death.

  1. Pray for Christians around the world to be encouraged today by the truth contained in “Del Amor Divino.”
  2. Pray for lost people who are floundering through life without a solid foundation to trust Jesus, so that they, too, can know His love.
  3. Pray for the top 100 enemies of Christianity to be led to repentance through the goodness of God (Rom. 2:4).

  1. The pictured display of laundry soap and glass cleaner brings to mind God’s offer in Isaiah 1:18 to cleanse the stain of sin. Pray for a customer who has purchased Tide or Windex from this store to receive His cleansing, for it is the only way to authentically be declared righteous.
  2. In describing the Transfiguration, Mark 9:3 states that Jesus’ clothes were whiter than any launderer on earth could whiten fabric. Pray for Christians living / working in the vicinity of our map marker to be reminded again of the holiness and majesty of their Savior.
  3. One block up from our current location is the Crack is Wack playground. Pray for a current Harlem addict to realize that true freedom from addiction of any kind is only obtained in Jesus Christ, and to turn to Him for deliverance.

  1. This skyline view is of NYC’s Harlem neighborhood, which is across the Harlem River from Randall’s Island. Harlem, New York, was originally a Dutch settlement named after Haarlem in the Netherlands (spelling changed when the British took over New York). Corrie ten Boom was born and lived in Haarlem, Holland. There is a very good guided virtual tour of the ten Boom house/clock shop available by following the link at the bottom of this post. Pray that many girls currently growing up in Harlem, New York, will have and take the opportunity to become women who have the same kind of love and trust in God that Corrie did.
  2. Teqball is a new sport (invented in 2014) that combines elements from several other sports. Pray for a player who uses the Teqball Table Location of Randall’s Island Park to meet and follow Jesus.
  3. Pray for God to meet the spiritual and financial needs of the newest Biblically solid church started in Harlem.

  1. An interesting rule relating to pedestrians using the Randall’s Island Park bridge is stated on the black sign in the lower left corner of the picture: “Use of cameras on bridge prohibited and strictly enforced.” Whether pedestrians agree with this rule or not, they must comply. Pray for someone who routinely crosses the bridge and chafes at every rule and authority figure in his life to have a change of heart, starting with his view of God, the ultimate Authority.
  2. Not far from our map marker is the Astoria World Manor, which Google describes as an “elegant event venue hosting weddings, corporate functions, and other celebrations in grand ballrooms.”  Pray for a member of a wedding party scheduled to occur at the manor to become qualified to attend the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, which will outshine any earthly event or venue.
  3. Donovan Richards, Jr., is the 41 your old president of the Borough of Queens. He has a religious background. Pray for the Lord to help him start or grow (whichever the need is) in his relationship with the heavenly Father today.

  1. The pictured vehicle is a 2004 Nissan Xterra. “Everything You Need, Nothing You Don’t” was the company’s selling slogan for the vehicle. Pray for every Christian owner of a Nissan Xterra in New York City to have this statement true of his life spiritually, that he will lay aside every weight and sin, and utilize all that God has provided for life and godliness.
  2. Pray for anyone living on 48th Street who went to church yesterday and heard the gospel, but remains in the valley of decision, that today will be the day of salvation.
  3. Pray for a Christian student who is trying to live for God at Middle School 429 to make other believing friends who have the same goals, that they may encourage each other as iron sharpens iron.

Sunday Songs Series: “Holy, Holy, Holy”

Revelation 4:8

And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”

This first Lord’s Day of March, TGP is excited to begin the Sunday Songs Series. For the next twelve Sunday posts, prayer requests will be drawn from a featured song of worship to Almighty God. A YouTube link to the song will be provided, and TGP team members are invited to follow the link to play the song. A suggested way to really let the song’s truths sink in is to start it playing and then close your eyes while listening, meditating on the words about our great God.

Our first song must of necessity reflect on the Lord’s arch attribute: absolute and perfect holiness. Isaiah 6 describes the unceasing three-fold declaration of God’s holiness that takes place before His throne. Almost 800 years later, John witnessed the same scene, and it continues even now.

  1. Pray that children of God around the world gathering to worship Him today will be reminded of His awesome holiness, and join in the eternal chorus of adoration to Him for it.
  2. Pray for the Holy Spirit to have free reign in His convicting work in hearts of the lost as He shows them their need for right standing before a holy God, and for today to be the day of salvation for an individual from every people group in the world.
  3. It has been said that, “Holiness is simply the reflection of the Master in the servant.”* Pray for Christians who have seen God’s holiness to yield to His transforming work in their lives.
