El Camino, Spain

Pray for the Lord to send workers to the harvestfield of El Camino.

El Camino is a famous European pilgrimage path leading to the alleged burial site of the bones of James (the first martyr of the early curch). Over 400,000 people registered their pilgrimage on El Camino in 2024. Pray for a Biblical church in rural Spain to establish a gospel outreach to pilgrims, who choose to walk for reasons including everything from recreation to spirituality.
Pictured above is a photo from this morning’s travel post by author Sean Dietrich, well into the El Camino pilgrimage he and his wife are walking. Based on his past words about Jesus, he unfortunately does not believe in the exclusive truth of John 14:6. Pray for that to change.
Pray for a child in rural Spain to trust Jesus as Savior today.

Zechariah 4:6

Magliano, Italy

1. Pray for anyone who may bicycle along this road today to ponder and act upon the claims that Jesus Christ made while on earth.

2. Pray that, as they enter adulthood this year, 21 year olds in Magliano will let God be the Guide of their lives.

3. Pray for effective one-on-one discipleship of new believers to occur.

Pray for Christians to understand and live by the principles of Romans 5-8.
Pray for the Spirit to have free reign in church services today to convict the lost of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and for their response to be repentance and faith.
Pray for a specific lost individual you know to have that same response to the truth of the gospel.

*It should be stated that the song’s comparison of the Spirit’s work to yeast / bread rising would be better omitted, because Scripture frequently uses that comparison to refer to sin, not the Spirit.

A Step Back

This past Saturday evening, my family had the opportunity to be outside at night away from city lights and observe a sky very similar to this one (a real-time view of Monday night’s sky from the Stellarium app).

Near the horizon is the Big Dipper. The two stars on the right side of the cup point to the North Star, which is also the end of the handle for the Little Dipper. The North star, or Polaris, has been the foundational navigational star for thousands of years. Near the top of the screen a segment of the Milky Way can be seen.

With major crises catapulting to the center stage of world events in rapid succession, it is good to step back and reflect on the sovereignty and immutability of our God – the I AM that I AM. He will have the final word, and He cares for His own. That is the guarantee of Scripture, and we can bank everything on the veracity of the Bible.

1. Continue in prayer for the Lord to defend Israel in their current war with Gaza.

2. Pray for an Israeli Christian your age to be encouraged by the above truths today.

3. Although clouds and light pollution often obscure our view, the stars above are still there shining to the glory of God. Thank our Father that, likewise, even when circumstances obstruct our view of His activities and purposes, He is at work and can always be trusted.

Fires in Israel

Here is a summary from the Times of Israel* headlines regarding Israel’s current wildfire condition:

“Prime Minister says 18 arrested so far on suspicion of arson tied to Jerusalem-area wildfires.
5,000 acres of land destroyed, 6 areas still ablaze as all evacuated residents allowed to return. Muted Independence Day celebrations underway. Firefighting planes on the way from overseas.”

Pray for God to send favorable weather conditions to aid firefighting efforts.
Pray for the fires to be stopped, and any future arsonist plans to be frustrated.
Pray for the Lord to use this situation to bring many people’s thoughts to eternity and salvation, and for many to accept the gospel. Pray for Christians in Israel to have the Lord’s protection, and effective witnessing opportunities.

Durres, Albania

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Durres.

Durres is a port city on the Adriatic Sea. Pray for the captains of these two ferry boats to personally meet the Captain Who rules the wind and waves.
The largest Roman amphitheater ever built in the Balkans is in Durres. It once seated 20,000 people. That is 16.4% of the city’s current population. Pray that, before the Lord’s return, 20,000 people in Durres will become disciples of Jesus Christ.
According to theculturetrip.com, Durres is one of Albania’s “liveliest” towns, with “vibrant nightlife.” Pray for someone today being drawn toward indulgent sensuality to heed the pull of God toward the best pursuits.

Barmer, India

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Barmer.

Pray for these two people to meet the Bread of Life, Who satisfies the soul as nothing else can.
There are currently high tensions between India and Pakistan. Pray for Pakistani families in Barmer to have an opportunity to believe the gospel.
Wikipedia states that in 2011, only 30% of females in Barmer were literate. The city’s total population that year was 100,051. Only 0.42 of 1% of those people espoused any religion other than Hinduism, Jainism, or Islam. What a need there is for the gospel to penetrate Barmer with the truth of God’s redemption and hope! Pray for the Lord to bring at least a portion of Scripture to every woman / girl who can read, and for them to understand and believe His Word.

Romans 10:13-15

Waitangi, New Zealand

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Waitangi.

In the Maori language, Waitangi means “weeping waters.” Pray for the people who live in Waitangi to know that God sees all their tears, and is the Friend Who sticks closer than a brother.
The Waitangi Treaty Grounds have been called the birth place of New Zealand. Pray that maintenance workers of this landmark will personally meet the one Mediator who can make the only irrevocable treaty between a condemned sinner and a holy God.
Pray for people who see this water/sky today to reflect on the sheer skill and goodness of God.

Pray for Christians around the world to worship and serve God this week through Christ who loves and lives in them.
Pray for lost people attending churches this morning in your state to know that God is present in the service, and obey the conviction of His Spirit in their hearts.
Praise the Father, Son, and Spirit for His continuous kindness and patience toward us His children.
