Continuing Prayer for Jewish People Around the World

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of His chosen people.

  1. Embassy workers Yaron and Sarah were killed in a terrorist attack Wednesday evening as they were leaving an event in Washington DC (ironically, the focus of the event was bridge building and humanitarian aid in the Middle East). Thank God, they both believed in Jesus as their Messiah. Pray for their families to know the Lord’s continuing strength during this difficult time.
  2. Pray for unsaved friends who have previously talked to Yaron and Sarah about the Messiah to go ahead and place their faith in Jesus.
  3. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and for the eyes of world leaders to be opened to the reality of what is occurring.

Prague, Czechia

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Prague.

  1. The above building is comparable to a city courthouse, with various offices inside. Pray that couples using the wedding ceremonial hall will have a desire to start their homes on a solid foundation, and that the Lord will put someone in their lives to explain Biblically how to do that.
  2. Pray for the craftsman/his family who built the wooden doors above to meet the greatest Carpenter of all time.
  3. When exiting the building, one can see a cross steeple in the distance. Pray that the Holy Spirit will use that sight to remind city officials of the need for God’s blessings on Prague, and that they will seek His wisdom for how to best manage their city.

Kamalganj Upazila, Bangladesh

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Kamalganj Upazila.

Photo from Google Earth
  1. This picture is right outside the Bhanugach Railway Station. It appears that the vehicles are for transporting passengers and luggage to and from the trains, and it is interesting that they do not have doors. Pray for the eight drivers of the two cars in the foreground, the five green cars in the background, and the yellow semi truck to have an opportunity to believe the gospel this year.
  2. Kamalganj Upazila is a sub-district of the Moulvibazar District of Bangladesh. The 2011 census reported 259,130 people in Kamalganj, with only an estimated 2,099 people adhering to any form of Christianity. Pray for this number to increase!
  3. Pray for a maid at the ritzy Grand Sultan Tea Resort & Golf establishment to meet and love Jesus, thus securing a reservation at His eternal home that far surpasses the grandeur of any earthly resort.

God’s Justice & Osana, Namibia

Galatians 6:7

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

Psalm 103:6

The LORD executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.”

In a world where people seem to get away with wrongs ranging from snide comments to great atrocities, it is good to know that there is a just Judge Who will rectify all. His hands are the best place to leave everything regarding vengeance, for only He is wise and capable enough for the job.

The greatest wrong that could ever be committed is sin against that Holy God. He is at once both the Just One and the Justifier of those who humbly receive the gift of His salvation (Rom. 3:26). Accepting the fact that the Son took sin’s punishment on their behalf is the only means by which the condemned guilty may be declared righteous.

1.   An interesting fact to notice from this photo is that both the road markings and side of the road that drivers use are different from the USA. Pray that a driver traveling this highway today will choose the narrow spiritual road that leads to life, coming to the Just One alone for justification.

2.   Pray for the Lord to execute righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed in Osana, and for them to recognize His hand in that.

3.   Pray for any Christians in Osana to imitate their just Father by seeking to be impartial in their day to day decisions, basing those judgment calls on objective truth.

Savusavu, Fiji

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Savusavu.

Photo from Google Earth
  1. Pray for anyone who visits this hot springs area to find release from the pressures of life in the One Who made the springs.
  2. Wikipedia states that “Savusavu is known as ‘the hidden paradise of Fiji’.” Pray for many residents there to dwell in the secret place of the Most High, the greatest paradise on earth. (Psalm 91:1)
  3. Pray for the city’s 25 year olds to encounter a gospel witness that will make a difference for eternity.

Sunday Songs Series: “Earthen Vessels”

2 Corinthians 4:7

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

In 2 Corinthians 3, Paul describes the fact that believers are ministers under the New Covenant of righteousness, a wonderful thing since we can see more clearly the transforming glory of God than those in the OT (3:6,9,18). In chapter 4, he continues with encouragement. God’s mercy enables us not to faint in serving Him (4:1); even though it is difficult, it is doable (4:8-9), and afflictions are light in comparison to eternity (4:16-18).

The reality that makes perseverance and success possible is described succinctly in 2 Corinthians 4:7 (see above), and reiterated throughout both chapters. Christians are compared to jars made from pottery (as indeed we are, for God made man from the dust of the Earth), that contain the Treasure of treasures – Jesus Himself (4:6). What a wonderful gift from our gracious God!

  1. Pray for believers around the world to be encouraged by 2 Corinthians 4:7 today.
  2. Pray for lost people to attend Biblical churches today, and to perceive that God Himself is present and active in the services. Pray for their response to then be obedient faith to His call to salvation.
  3. Pray for believers to let the life of Jesus inside them work mightily through them every day this week (4:10b, 11b).

Hope, USA

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Hope.

Photo from Google Earth
  1. Located on the Sacandaga River, the town of Hope has 400 residents. Pictured above is the town hall. Pray for the next person who enters that building to hear and believe the gospel.
  2. It is interesting that the Old Testament Hebrew word for “hope” (tiqvah) is connected to the idea of a “cord or attachment.” In fact, although tiqvah is almost always translated “hope,” it is also the word used for the “cord” of scarlet thread that Rahab hung out her window, a beautiful illustration of the faith she had come to place in the God of Israel for redemption. Pray for the family that has lived in the town of Hope, New York, the longest to have sure hope for this life and eternity by being attached to that Hope Himself through faith.
  3. In Hosea 2:15, the Lord made a promise of restoration for His people: the valley of Achor would become a door of hope. “Achor” means trouble, and was the place where Achan troubled Israel back in the book of Joshua. Similarly, Israel’s unfaithfulness to God had brought them trouble, as described in the book of Hosea. Pray for a resident of Hope, New York, who has walked far away from God to repent, and for the consequences of sin in that person’s life to point him / her to the only Hope there truly is.

Dilling, Sudan

Pray for the Lord to send out workers to the harvestfield of Dilling.

  1. Pray that someone entering this blue gate today will also enter the straight gate leading to eternal life (Matthew 7:13-14).
  2. Pray for the Lord to provide an opportunity for Bible training for any Christians in Dilling who have a desire to learn more about His Word.
  3. Dilling has a population of about 60,000. Pray for spiritual rest to be found by the most weary of souls living there.
