From November 15-26, the International Olympics for the Deaf are being held in Tokyo, Japan. This is a major event, consisting of 3,000 participating athletes, and as many Olympic officials / referees / staff. The Deaflympics started in 1924, making this year the centennial anniversary. Around 80 countries send athletes, and there are 200 medal events, including both individual and team competitions in 21 different sports. Visual starting cues such as flags and lights are used to signal the deaf athletes.

As we pray for the salvation of athletes who have come to the Deaflympics from around the world, there are many of our brothers and sisters in Christ who have gone to Tokyo for the express purpose of sharing the gospel with participants. In fact, one of our very own team members is familiar with some of those missionaries, and she was the one that brought this prayer opportunity to our attention.

1. Pray for a great harvest of souls from many nations, and that the Lord will bring about many “Divine appointments.”

2. Pray for physical endurance for Christians, as there’s a lot of walking involved, and some of the believers are older or have health challenges.

3. Pray for people who do trust Christ to find good churches to attend, so that discipleship and growth can occur.

Phil. 4:13

Note: In other news, today marks one month since missionary pilot Kevin Rideout was kidnapped in Niger. His whereabouts remain unknown. Please continue to pray for Kevin and his family, as well as the salvation of his captors.
