On this day our hearts are heavy, whether as Americans remembering 9/11/01, as Christians mourning yesterday’s loss of a conservative spokesman, or as family members grieving the loss of a loved one. It is therefore appropriate to change our regular TGP format out of respect to those sacrifices and losses. We pray – simply, yet meaningfully – the words Jesus gave us as an example prayer, because His words are always the best words. May they find resonance in our souls today and every day:
Matthew 6:9-13
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.
